Accounting Officer

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accounting Officer to join our finance team in Kingston. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Jamaican tax regulations, and supporting the company’s overall financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash disbursements.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile bank, credit‑card and vendor statements, and assist with month‑end and year‑end closings.
• Maintain and update the general ledger, perform reconciliations of GL accounts, sub‑ledgers and balance‑sheet items, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and file statutory returns (PAYE, NHT, NIS, HEART, GCT) and liaise with Tax Administration Jamaica and other agencies.
• Support external audits by providing required documentation.
• Produce monthly financial reports, schedules and variance analysis, and assist management with budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent; ACCA Level 2 is a plus.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in general accounting, tax compliance and ledger management.
• Strong knowledge of Jamaican tax regulations, NHT/NIS/HEART compliance and GAAP.
• High attention to detail, integrity and strong organizational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
• Advanced Excel skills.
