Financial Analyst - Insurance Accounting

About the role

Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited is hiring a Financial Analyst for its Insurance Accounting team in Kingston. The role supports accurate and timely financial reporting for Sagicor Life Jamaica and Sagicor Cayman, including IFRS 17 analysis, account reconciliations, reinsurance accounting, expense allocations, accruals and prepayments. It also leads insurance system testing, supports internal controls and works with stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting issues.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile balances relating to insurance contracts, resolve related differences and escalate as appropriate.
• Prepare quarterly financial reporting inputs for insurance companies.
• Maintain reinsurance accounting, related reconciliations, payments and recoveries.
• Ensure accuracy of expense allocation in the general ledger and related administrative systems.
• Lead testing of the insurance sub-system and related upgrades.
• Liaise with external parties as needed and perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, ACCA Level II, or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
• Two years' accounting or related experience.
• Good human relations skills, high attention to detail and accuracy, strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent time management and organizational skills.
