Training Manager – Kingston

About the role

Tourism Product Development Co. (TPDCo), a government body, is recruiting a Training Manager for Kingston. Working under the direction of the Executive Tourism Training Manager, the post holder plans, designs, implements and evaluates training and learning events for current and potential employees in the tourism industry of the Kingston parish and the South Coast.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, coordinate and run training and learning events that meet the needs and standards of the tourism industry.
• Consult with clients so that their training and learning needs are met.
• Recruit, train and deploy instructors and assessors, and supervise the preparation of training materials such as brochures, course schedules, curricula and reference resources.
• Facilitate training sessions, evaluate their quality, content, participant response and venue effectiveness, and give feedback to instructors.
• Monitor the security and location of training aids and equipment, and keep updated records of staff performance, department expenses and revenue, and participant attendance for certification.
• Lead and coach direct reports through performance objectives, appraisals and delegation; contribute to work programmes and budgets.
• Build internal and external collaboration so that local and regional training standards are recognised and kept up to date.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Human Resources, Planning or a related discipline.
• Training in hotel management and/or industrial relations.
• At least three years of management-level experience in tourism or a related field.
• Experience in training delivery.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of the tourism industry and its regulations.
• Proficiency with computers and data applications.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills.
