Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Construction & Real Estate

About the role

A diversified construction and real estate business is seeking an accomplished, commercially driven CEO to lead its strategic growth, operational performance and long-term value creation. The CEO holds overall responsibility for strategy, P&L, business development, construction operations, real estate development, investment decisions, people leadership and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate is a proven senior executive with substantial experience in construction, property development, real estate investment, infrastructure, engineering or related sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Set and execute the company's strategy, expand the business and report regularly to the Board
• Own the P&L, budgets, forecasts and capital plans, and improve margins and return on invested capital
• Oversight of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to standard, with strong project governance and HSE standards
• Lead real estate development and investment, from land acquisition to sales, leasing and asset disposition
• Drive business development, negotiate major contracts and joint ventures, and build relationships with clients, investors and government bodies
• Establish enterprise-wide risk management, governance and compliance, and oversee subsidiaries and joint ventures
• Build and lead the executive team, coach senior leaders and plan succession
• Represent the company before the Board, investors, regulators and the wider community

Required profile

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including a previous CEO, MD, Deputy CEO, COO or equivalent role
• Proven experience managing a large P&L and multidisciplinary organization, with a track record of business growth and value creation
• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration or Economics; MBA preferred
• Preferred: experience with a diversified group or holding company, large-scale projects, joint ventures, PPPs, institutional investors, and international experience
